Shivamogga Subbanna dead: Apart from enthralling the audience with his soulful songs, the renowned singer also served as an advocate.
Bangalore: Renowned singer Shivamogga Subbanna died of a heart attack on Thursday night. He was 83 years old. He breathed his last at Jayadeva Hospital in Bangalore. Shivamogga Subbanna was the first Kannadiga to win a National Award for the playback singing of his song ‘Kaadu Kudure Odi Banditta’ in the movie ‘Kaadu Kudure’.
He gained much popularity by rendering songs written by Jnanpith Award-winning Kannada writer Kuvempu. After learning of the unfortunate news, several netizens took to social media to express their heartfelt condolences.
“I had grown up listening to his amazing renditions of #Kannada Bhaavageete. His songs and unique voice will continue to mesmerize #music lovers forever….. May his Aatman Attain Sadhgati Aum Shaanti,” wrote a Twitter user. “May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted another. Shivamogga Subbanna is survived by a wife, a son, and a daughter.
Besides enthralling audiences with his soulful songs, he also worked as a lawyer.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a message of condolences for the bereaved family on Twitter.
