Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ola Electric has responded to a legal notice sent by a Guwahati customer named Balwant Singh. The notice was sent by Singh, whose son had been in an accident on Ola’s e-scooter in March 2022.

Ola had then shared the telemetry data on social networks to get rid of any possible accusations. However, the whistleblower objected to this move, claiming that it was a violation of privacy under the company’s agreement.

Due to his concern, the father had asked the electric vehicle manufacturer to withdraw the post that had revealed the telemetry data.

In response to this, the company has sent out a counter-notification, asking Singh to “cease and desist from making any defamatory posts” and to delete all “negative” social media posts he has already shared against Ola Electric.

The company has ordered Singh to remove all posts within 24 hours.

The standoff began in March when Balwant Singh tweeted that his son had been in a serious accident due to the Ola S1 Pro scooter’s faulty regenerative braking system.

According to him, the scooter accelerated instead of slowing down when decelerating. In addition, he stated that Ola’s representatives had already taken the vehicle to collect data for the investigation.

To counter this claim, Ola shared telemetry data on various social media platforms to prove that the vehicle was being driven recklessly and that there was nothing wrong with it.

The statement shared by Ola said: “We did a thorough investigation of the accident and the data clearly shows that the driver was speeding throughout the night, and he braked in a panic, thus losing control of the vehicle. There is nothing wrong with the accident.” vehicle”.

Singh objected to this move, saying the company had not respected his data privacy rights. He then sent a notification to Ola saying, “You are hereby notified to remove my scooter’s telemetry data from your social media accounts on the internet as soon as possible, otherwise, I will be forced to take legal action against you.” your company”.

The incident caused the spread of several negative comments on all social media platforms.
