Another week of June has arrived and we have some interesting releases to look forward to on OTT platforms. From Chris Hemsworth’s Spiderhead thriller to the Tamil series Suzhal: The Vortex and the thriller starring Nayanthara O2, here’s a quick look at what’s coming to streaming platforms this week.

Halftime: Netflix

Release date: June 14.

The Netflix documentary is based on the life of pop star Jennifer Lopez. In the documentary, Lopez talks about her relationships, her career, the struggles of constantly being in the spotlight, and more.

Suzhal: The Vortex: Amazon Prime Video

Release date: June 17

A highly anticipated show, Amazon Prime Video’s first Tamil original series, Suzhal: The Vortex revolves around the investigation of a missing girl who wreaks havoc in a small town in Tamil Nadu. But the series will not only be available in Tamil but in more than 30 languages, both Indian and foreign. The series will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and English along with foreign languages such as French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Latin Spanish, Arabic, and Turkish, among others. It will also be available with subtitles in other foreign languages. The program created by Pushkar and Gayatri features Kathir, Aishwarya Rajesh, Sriya Reddy, and Radhakrishnan Parthiban in key roles.

Spiderhead: Netflix

Release date: June 17

With Chris Hemsworth in the lead, Spiderhead revolves around two inmates in a state-of-the-art prison dealing with their lives and past while being tested for emotion-controlling drugs. The sci-fi prison thriller based on a story by George Saunders is directed by Joseph Kosinski. “In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates use a surgically placed device that administers doses of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences,” reads the film’s synopsis.

O2: Disney plus Hotstar

Release date: June 17

Nayanthara is back with another thriller in GS Viknesh’s O2. The actress plays the role of a mother in this survival drama. The film will be released on Disney+Hotstar in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. Going by trailer, Nayanthara appears to be the mother of a child who suffers from a medical condition that does not allow her to breathe without a ventilator. A bus they are traveling in falls into a huge hole, leaving the survivors struggling to breathe and fighting for their son’s oxygen tank.

Salt City: Sony Liv

Release date: June 16

Starring Piyush Mishra, Gauahar Khan, Divyendu Sharma, and Eisha Chopra in the lead, Salt City explores the complex relationship dynamics of the Bajpai family. The Mumbai-set show is directed by Rishabh Anupam Sahay.

Her season 2: Netflix

Release date: June 17.

The second season of the Imtiaz Ali-created crime drama will see Bhumika, played by Aaditi Pohankar, a shy Mumbai police officer, in a “dynamic new avatar.” Kishore Kumar G and Vishwas Kini also reprise their roles as drug kingpin Nayak and Bhumi’s elder, Fernandez. Imtiaz Ali said She Season 2 remains a profoundly personal story even as it catapults into a higher-octane drama.
