The Mitron app, an Indian prototype of TikTok, has registered more than 50 lakh downloads, making it one of the most popular brands in the country in a short period of time. The app launched just over a month ago and is now giving tough competition to TikTok, which is facing a crisis in India after multiple controversies, NDTV reported.
The app is reportedly developed by IIT Roorkee student Shivank Agarwal. The first look at the app looks like a TikTok clone.
Mitron ranked at number seven of Free Apps on the Google Play charts, ahead of Instagram, Helo, and Facebook, as on April 26. He is behind TikTok (number two) and Aarogya Setu (in the first place). However, on Monday he was at number two as seen in this tweet from Deepak Abbot, a former senior vice president at Paytm.
According to the NDTV report, the app gained importance due to the association of its name with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the anti-Chinese feelings that were brewing among the Indians, which has led to the fall of the use of TikTok.
Currently, the app has a good 4.7 rating. However, many users have complained about errors. Users also pointed out that basic features like editing are not supported, login options are flawed, and audio addition is limited, according to the NDTV report.
The Mitron app is a free short video and social platform. The creators say the app is designed for people to “showcase their innovative videos online” with light humor. “Our mission at Mitron is to create a platform where people can come and entertain themselves with short videos posted by people from all over the world and at the same time create a social incentive for people to share and create their own videos,” the statement read. description.
Anyone with an Android phone can download and use the app for free by going to their page on Google Play and downloading the app. The application can be downloaded and used for free. The app is not currently available on iOS.
The application has a user interface similar to that of TikTok and anyone can watch the video without having an account on it. However, to upload and like the videos, users will need to log in to the app.
